Google Adds Greenlight Card Support to Kids’ Smartwatches

Google has partnered with Greenlight Financial Technology to integrate the Greenlight debit card into its kid-focused smartwatch, the Fitbit Ace LTE. This integration allows children to make contactless payments directly from their smartwatch, eliminating the need for a phone or physical card, according to Finextra

Greenlight, an Atlanta-based fintech company, boasts 6.5 million users of its «smart» debit card and app, which is designed to enhance children’s financial literacy while offering parents robust controls over their kids’ spending. With the new integration, parents can instantly send money, automate allowances, manage chores, set spending controls, and receive real-time notifications through the Greenlight app.

Ben Greenwood, the product lead for the Fitbit Ace LTE, commented on the collaboration: «We’re excited to collaborate with Greenlight to bring tap-to-pay capabilities to the Fitbit Ace LTE, giving parents a valuable tool to instill responsible spending habits and help kids gain confidence while they learn important money skills.”
