Garanti BBVA Introduces Biometric Card for Secure and Convenient Payments

Garanti BBVA, one of Turkey’s leading banks, has launched a new contactless credit card in collaboration with Mastercard, featuring a built-in fingerprint scanner for enhanced security and convenience, according to Finextra.

The Bonus Platinum Biometric Card allows customers to make payments by tapping the card on a contactless terminal and placing their finger on the integrated sensor. For added security, customers also have the option to use a password.

Murat Çağrı Süzer, Deputy General Manager at Garanti BBVA, highlighted the card’s benefits, stating, «With the Bonus Platinum Biometric Card, customers can make secure payments quickly and easily by simply scanning their fingerprints. There is no need for them to remember their PINs or set up contactless limits.»

In addition to the biometric card launch, Garanti BBVA has received an operating license from the Turkish central bank for its new payments solutions platform subsidiary, Garanti Payment and Electronic Money Service. This subsidiary is set to introduce a beta version of its digital payment solutions under the TAMİ brand, enabling businesses of all sizes in Turkey to receive and track payments easily, while also offering customers installment payment options across all banks.
